Tooth Extraction & Wisdom Tooth Removal

Painless removal when a tooth genuinely cannot be saved

You may need this if…

  • Severe pain from a tooth that cannot be restored
  • Repeated swelling around a partly erupted wisdom tooth
  • A tooth broken below the gum line
  • Pain or decay in the molar next to an angled wisdom tooth
  • A loose tooth from advanced gum disease
  • A milk tooth that has not fallen out and is blocking the permanent tooth

We try to save teeth wherever it is realistic to do so. But a tooth broken below the gum, split vertically, or destroyed by decay to the point where nothing is left to build on, has to come out — and leaving it in place risks a spreading infection.

Wisdom teeth are a separate problem. They erupt last, often with nowhere to go, and end up impacted: partly through the gum, angled into the tooth in front, and impossible to clean. That traps food and bacteria and causes repeated swelling, pain and decay in the perfectly healthy molar next door.

What to expect

Extractions are done under local anaesthesia — you feel firm pressure, not pain. Surgical removal of an impacted wisdom tooth takes longer and usually involves stitches. We give you written aftercare instructions and our number, and we will tell you honestly beforehand how much swelling to expect and how many days off you may want.

What you get at Bright Care

  • Done under local anaesthesia — pressure, not pain
  • Digital X-ray first to check the roots and the nerve position
  • Surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth in-house
  • Written aftercare instructions, plus our number for any concern
  • Replacement options discussed at the same visit
  • Special protocol for patients on blood thinners or with diabetes

Tooth Extraction & Wisdom Tooth Removal — common questions

The procedure itself does not — local anaesthesia takes care of that. Soreness for two to three days afterwards is normal and is managed with the painkillers we prescribe.
